Travel Tips for the Beginner Golfer
A word of warning to the beginner golfer, golf is addictive and can take over many aspects of your life. One such element is the golf trip. There is the danger that your future holidays will begin to revolve around golf. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. There’s a good reason why the golf leisure and travel market is so big. That’s because it is fun! What’s not to like about exploring beautifully manicured golf courses in splendid surrounds?
Some of my favourite holidays involved golf. I’ve had trips to the Hunter Valley in Australia to the Algarve in Spain. The excitement of standing on the first tee on a new course is almost like experiencing Christmas as a child.
If you are travelling in a large group, the first tee off on day one is something to experience. The nerves and excitement with 10-20 people behind you as you hit your first shot is something to behold. A lot of the resort courses have a water feature from the first tee, which is an incredible magnet to your ball.
One of my favourite experiences was teeing off over the water only for the ball to go straight towards it. As luck would have it, the ball skimmed the water like a skipping stone, to land on the fairway on the other side. It was a terrible shot but incredibly rewarding at the same time.
Here I have put together some simple articles on what to expect and prepare for when embarking on your next golf leisure and travel experience. Such as what to pack, golf travel bags, some course reviews and accommodation recommendations, to name a few.
